Soraya Ahyaudin is a believer in soft strengths. Growing up, she dreamt of becoming a stationery sommelier and settled by becoming an analogue lover of the world of paper, pens, and notebooks.

Soraya directs the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute at the USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture. Before joining CRCC, Soraya worked in public diplomacy, educational exchanges, and capacity building. She was the program assistant at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, where she managed the center’s event programming, professional training opportunities, and office management. Her work experience includes being an assistant registrar at the international office of Universiti Sains Malaysia and assistant director with the Public Service Department of Malaysia. Her diverse work experience has cultivated her interest in the intersections of faith diplomacy with globalization and diaspora narratives and sentiments.

In her free time, Soraya loves the softer things of life like coffee drinking, reading the Quran, scrapbooking and journaling, beach-sitting and waves observing, and exploring and analyzing Japanese animation as creative works of historical, cultural, sociological, and economic dimensions.
