The process photos are below. What I envisioned for this project is a representation of the beauty that can be grown from tests and grief, & how we can use our tears (from either anger or sorrow) to grow new possibilities for ourselves. One project (shown in the last photo below) is a wall hanging that will show a river of tears growing new leaves of possibility. The fibers are cotton, nylon organza & silk that I’ve dyed botanically with tea, indigo & rosemary. It will be an embroidered & appliquéd piece. The companion to this project will also be an embroidered & appliquéd piece but will show a field of flowers grown by the tears of rage. The working title of both pieces is Growth Through Fire & Water. All the dyeing is complete and I’m working on the assembly.
